Lauria, aka Laurianne Fiorentino, is self-taught on guitar and bracketed harmonica from age eleven. She took popular organ lesson from from age nine through fourteen. At the University of Massachusetts, she completed three years of classical music education focusing on theory and jazz voice. For more than a decade, Lauria played electric bass for New England country, rock, blues and R&B bands that infused their shows with comedy and dance. In the early nineties, she left everything she knew and moved to the foothills of the Rockies north of Santa Fe, NM. There in the solitude of the high desert, she began documenting a life of contemplation and observation of realms internal and external. Her work developed into Americana Soul music - ancient yet modern.
Delivering a musical experience bordering on ritual and ceremony, nominated for Artist Of The Year by the Nat’l Acad. Of Songwriters (LA), Critics’Choice at NXNE (Toronto) and FolKrawl (Memphis), and festival hit at The First Southern Roots & Blues Festival (Tasmania, Australia). Bamboo flute, harmonica, and invented vocal music has been included in movie and live theater soundtracks. With the 2016 release of a fully produced studio CD, Lauria introduces a new artist name - LAURIA. The new music and sound is a departure from the home-grown live recordings and home studio collections under her birth name, Laurianne Fiorentino, and demands a new identity.
