Española, NM – Northern New Mexico College is once again the most affordable four-year institution in the state, following its decision to maintain tuition at 2013-2014 rates.
Currently, full-time resident students pay $2,030 per semester in tuition and general fees. This compares to New Mexico Highlands at $2,250 and Western New Mexico at $2,672 per semester.
“We know that affordability is a top consideration for our students,” Northern New Mexico College President Dr. Nancy Barceló said. “A key part of our mission is to provide a quality education that is accessible to the community. I think we are meeting that need.”
Northern’s Board of Regents unanimously approved the College’s budget and flat tuition rates during its April 26 meeting. With the exception of Northern and the University of New Mexico All other four-year institutions in the state passed tuition increases for the upcoming year.
The New Mexico Lottery Scholarship has also capped Fall 2014 award amounts at $1,500 per semester, meaning that Northern and New Mexico Highlands will be the only colleges statewide in which the scholarship covers the full cost of tuition.
