All Things Real Estate: First Hour - April 7, 2019
In the first hour of the show, join Rey and his guest co-host Kevin Skelly, Master Builder and Principal at residential construction firm K.M. Skelly, Inc., and their guests as they mark a special date that has influenced all forms of real estate activity.
April 7, 1969 is often cited as the “symbolic" birth date of the Internet. It was the day when the first Request for Comment (RFC) document was drafted by an engineer on the Pentagon's ARPAnet project, a precursor to the modern Internet. The RFC memoranda contained research, proposals and methodologies applicable to Internet technology. Given the significance of this 50-year anniversary, it serves as the basis for the theme on this Sunday’s show: "How technology has transformed all forms of real estate work."
Real Estate Broker Observations: Rey will offer his thoughts on the range of technology matters that have influenced the day-to-day activities of real estate brokers, as applied to home buyer and seller transactions. In June, the “All Things Real Estate” radio show is marking a 10-year anniversary of broadcasting. Throughout 2019, Rey will reflect on how the weekly program has played a role this past decade, in aiding consumers in achieving the “American Dream” of home ownership.
Home Builder Report: Guest co-host Kevin Skelly will offer his own thoughts on the technology inspired theme of the show, as it applies to custom home building. Kevin will also update the audience on the state of home construction as we begin the second quarter of 2019. K.M. Skelly, Inc., has perfected a strategy that concentrates on customer service and quality products by giving attention to the details in every project. Kevin is a Certified Green Professional and a Graduate Master Builder with over 35 years of industry experience. Living in Santa Fe for the last 19 years, Kevin has developed a love for Santa Fe style that incorporates simple lines and reflects the landscape’s natural beauty. Accepting a limited number of projects each year, K.M. Skelly, Inc., is able to build a lasting trust with every client, transforming their visions into reality.
2019 Roofing and Home Maintenance Update: John Grisak, President of Fix My Roof, LLC, will offer some observations on how technology has impacted his business operation, including a review of the cutting-edge procedures and products that his company uses in residential and commercial roof restoration. Fix My Roof, LLC, is committed to restoring existing roofs for a fraction of the cost of roof replacement while maximizing a positive impact on the environment by embracing environmentally responsible practices and educating the greater community about environmental stewardship. Gateway Mortgage Group “Home Buyer Tip”: Besides offering her thoughts on the theme of Sunday’s show—including how technology plays an important role in the activities of mortgage professionals—Marita DeVargas, Loan Originator at the Gateway Mortgage Group, will also provide a useful mortgage tip that can benefit home buyers who are purchasing a property in collaboration with a lender. The Gateway Mortgage Group is one of the largest privately held mortgage companies in the country, doing its entire mortgage servicing in-house. This business element is important, since it means that Gateway’s customers work directly with them until the time their loan is paid. Rey’s “Real Estate Recommendation”: Rey’s weekly real estate recommendation will offer some suggestions on how to make the home buying and selling process a bit easier, more efficient and enjoyable for consumers.
Open House of the Week: Rey will review the attributes of 58 County Road 140 with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague Lois Sury. This four-bedroom and lovingly restored Northern New Mexico classic adobe—sited in a magnificent cottonwood grove on 2.23 acres with water rights on the Rio Chama—is located just 12 miles south of Georgia O’Keeffe’s Abiquiú and 40 minutes from Santa Fe in the town of Medanales, New Mexico.
