All Things Real Estate: First Hour - June 17, 2018
This weekly radio show features host and Sotheby's International Realty's Associate Broker Rey Post (NM REC License #45660) and a variety of special guests offering the best news, information and commentary regarding every aspect of today's real estate market.
In the first hour of the show, join Rey and guest co-host Scott Robinson—Branch Manager of the Gateway Mortgage Group—and other guests for a Father’s Day/Official Start of Summer-inspired discussion of real estate issues impacting home owners, buyers and sellers.
With this Sunday, June 17, marking Father's Day we are able to especially celebrate and honor fathers, fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. And with the summer solstice—the day when the Sun reaches its northernmost point from the equator—occurring on June 21 this year, dads are able to enjoy longer days doing things around the place that they call “home.”
Real Estate Broker Update: Rey will offer some thoughts on how he and his real estate broker colleagues consider the elements to home buying and selling that are important to dads and their families. Rey will also offer his weekly “Rey’s Real Estate Recommendation,” which is designed to make the home buying and selling process a bit easier and more enjoyable for consumers. In addition, Rey will remind the audience that the Sotheby's International Realty® brand has partnered with New Story, a non-profit organization that puts 100 percent of donations toward transforming dangerous living environments into communities of safe, sustainable homes, for $6,000 a home. Go to https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/newstory for more information on this significant initiative.
Gateway Mortgage Group “Home Buyer Tip”: Besides offering his thoughts on the Father’s Day/Summer theme of the broadcast, Scott will provide his regular mortgage tip that can benefit home buyers who are purchasing a property in collaboration with a lender. The Gateway Mortgage Group is one of the largest privately held mortgage companies in the country, doing its entire mortgage servicing in-house. This business element is important, since it means that Gateway’s customers work directly with them until the time their loan is paid. Scott Robinson, NMLS 202265, is a licensed Branch Manager with Gateway Mortgage Group, located at 502 West Cordova Road, Suite 1, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87505. All loans are subject to program guidelines and final underwriting approval. Gateway Mortgage Group, LLC, is an equal housing lender. NMLS 7233.
Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, LLC, Update: Donna Jones White, Owner and Qualifying Broker of Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, LLC, will not only reflect on the show theme, but will also underscore how important it is to offer information to her clients about the values of Santa Fe as a destination for work, or vacation travel. In addition, Donna will also remind the audience about her company’s role in maintaining a collection of rental options for vacation guests who choose to come to Santa Fe this year or are seeking a furnished 30-day or long-term unfurnished property. Consumers from around the globe turn to Donna’s company to aid them in finding comfortable and high-quality residences for their stays in our community.
Open House of the Week: Rey will review the attributes of 1294 Lejano Lane with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague Adrienne DeGuere. This spacious single-level home offering two bedrooms plus an office is nestled into a hillside and sited amongst the shelter of mature trees. Privacy and a country feeling await in this coveted Eastside location, where you can experience the joys of quiet living in this generously sized home in one of Santa Fe's oldest neighborhoods within walking distance to downtown.
In the second hour of the show, join Rey for a very special interview with the Mayor of Santa Fe, Alan Webber. Becoming the 43rd mayor of Santa Fe—winning with a landslide victory on March 6—Alan is known as a successful entrepreneur and author and has considerable experience in local, state and Federal government activities. Alan has worked as the Editorial Director of the Harvard Business Review; ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor of New Mexico in 2014 (finishing second in a field of five candidates); and in 1995, co-founded the technology business magazine, Fast Company, where he was named Adweek's Editor of the Year in 1999. On this Father’s Day, Alan will happily acknowledge his fortunate place—joining many others in Santa Fe—as a proud father and husband.
In the second of a series of quarterly interviews in 2018 on “All Things Real Estate,” Rey will engage Alan this Sunday in a discussion of a range of issues, including:
+ Impressions gained of the city, its people and their expectations since assuming the newly-created full-time, CEO-type role of mayor of Santa Fe.
+ Unexpected challenges encountered while serving the city.
+ Importance of teamwork with multiple constituencies in the city.
+ The future of our city's youth and the critical role that that they play as both our nation's future leaders, as well as the next generation of home buyers.
+ Addressing the importance of real estate to the economy of Santa Fe, as well as the housing needs of all residents.
