All Things Real Estate: First Hour - September 9, 2018
This weekly radio show features host and Sotheby's International Realty's Associate Broker Rey Post (NM REC License #45660) and a variety of special guests offering the best news, information and commentary regarding every aspect of today's real estate market.
In the first hour of the show, join Rey, his guest co-host—Stephen Etre, Owner of Stephens, A Consignment Gallery—and their guests as they apply a special historic event to help frame the show’s discussion.
On September 9, 1776, the U.S. Continental Congress declared that the name of the newly formed nation—then seeking independence from Great Britain—would be "The United States." This designation replaced the term "United Colonies," which was in general use.
In the spirit of this historic occasion of 242 years ago, Rey and his guests will discuss how "real estate professionals stand united when they pursue work for their clients."
Real Estate Brokers Stand United for Their Clients: Rey will share some observations on the ways that real estate brokers unite with other professionals who play roles in the successful execution of the home buying and selling process pursued by consumers. Rey will also provide commentary via his weekly “Rey’s Real Estate Recommendation,” which offers a tip to consumers with the goal of helping to make the real estate process more appealing and less challenging. Also, Rey will remind the audience that the Sotheby's International Realty® brand has partnered with New Story, a non-profit organization that puts 100 percent of donations toward transforming dangerous living environments into communities of safe, sustainable homes, for $6,000 a home. Go to https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/newstory for more information on this significant initiative.
Stephen’s, A Consignment Gallery Update: Stephen Etre, Owner of Stephen’s, A Consignment Gallery, will address the show theme by speaking to the important role that his gallery plays in assisting home owners, buyers and sellers. With more than 13,000 square feet of display space, the gallery has been a place that home buyers, sellers and owners—along with real estate professionals—have gone to for more than 36 years to find unique art, antiques, jewelry, furniture and home accessories. In addition, the gallery is known for offering premier estate sale services and has—for many years—been called upon by real estate professionals, lawyers and personal financial advisors to administer a number of well-known estate sale events in Santa Fe and other parts of northern New Mexico.
Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association Update: Rey will join in a conversation with Kim Shanahan, Executive Officer of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders Association (SFAHBA), regarding the theme for the first hour of the show. Kim will also address a variety of timely home-building and remodeling issues, including his take on the state of the construction industry at this point in 2018. Rey and Kim will also review the successful staging of the SFAHBA’s 2018 “Haciendas, A Parade of Homes” (Parade) tour in August. This nationally recognized event featured some of the finest new construction and totally remodeled homes in our region. Kim will discuss the outcome of how properties featured in the event were judged in this home building competition. “All Things Real Estate” was proud to have been invited by the SFAHBA—for the eighth year in a row—to air remote broadcasts of the program on August 12 and 19 from the Parade’s “Grand Hacienda” selected home, 36 Plaza del Centro. As a reminder, tune in to the SFAHBA’s weekly radio show “Green Building”—which Kim hosts—airing just before the “All Things Real Estate” program, beginning at 11 am (Mountain Time) each Sunday on KTRC’s 1260AM and 103.7FM (also heard at the same time via the “Listen Now” link at atre.com).
Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, LLC, Update: Donna Jones White, Owner and Qualifying Broker of Santa Fe Vacation Rentals, LLC, will not only reflect on the show theme, but will also underscore how important it is to offer information to her clients about the values of Santa Fe as a destination for work, or vacation travel. Donna will also remind the audience about her company’s role in maintaining a collection of rental options for vacation guests who choose to come to Santa Fe this year, or are seeking a furnished 30-day or long-term unfurnished property. Consumers from around the globe turn to Donna’s company to aid them in finding comfortable and high-quality residences for their stays in our community.
Open House of the Week: Rey will review the attributes of 2 Silver Rock Road with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague Katherine Blagden. This immaculate 3,027 square foot, four-bedroom, two-bath home sits on a nicely landscaped corner lot, has high ceilings, great light, good bedroom separation, and an open cozy kitchen/dining/family room to enjoy the corner kiva fireplace and access to the patio and yard. This home is located in the Santa Fe neighborhood of Rancho Viejo, handy for commuting on Route 599, I-25, or to and from the new hospital in the community.
In the second hour of the show, join Rey and his guest co-host Craig Hoopes, Principal at the highly-regarded firm Hoopes & Associates Architects, as they continue to discuss the theme from the first hour of the show. Specifically, Craig will offer his thoughts on all of the ways that he and the members of his firm stand united with other real estate professionals when they pursue work for their clients. One recent example of Craig’s architectural firm accomplishing this goal relates to the role it played in the design and building of the Grand Hacienda-winning home of the 2018 “Haciendas, A Parade of Homes” tour in August, 36 Plaza del Centro. Underscoring the show theme of standing united with other real estate professionals, Craig and his team joined Prull Custom Builders, Serquis + Associates landscape architects, and interior designers Paul Rau Interiors in the design and construction of this award-winning property. Craig was also part of the design and building team in 2014 that won the Grand Hacienda award during this nationally known and highly respected event. With this history as a backdrop, Rey and Craig will also discuss current architectural issues that are impacting the home building process at this point in 2018.
