All Things Real Estate: Second Hour - January 12, 2020

All Things Real Estate

In the second hour of the show, join Rey and his special guests as they review the activities of two prominent Santa Fe non-profit organizations. For more than a decade, ATRE has served as a destination for community organizations to share information about the services they offer to the residents of Northern New Mexico. Today’s second hour of the show continues this tradition, with commentary offered by several non-profit leaders.

Think New Mexico Update: Joining Rey during the start of the broadcast is Fred Nathan, Jr., Founder and Executive Director of Think New Mexico, a results-oriented, non-partisan think tank whose mission is to improve the quality of life for all New Mexicans. Fred will provide an update on the organization’s agenda in the New Year, including issues important to Think New Mexico that are being considered by the New Mexico Legislature during the 2020 session. Key among these issues is the organization’s efforts to get the legislature to enact a variety of recommendations that achieve retirement security for all residents of the state. Besides founding and serving as the Executive Director of Think New Mexico, Fred Nathan served as Special Counsel to New Mexico Attorney General Tom Udall from 1991-1998. In that capacity, he was the architect of several successful legislative initiatives, and was in charge of New Mexico’s lawsuit against the tobacco industry, which resulted in a $1.25 billion settlement for the state.

Kitchen Angels Role in the Community: Linda Dressman, President, and Dwayne Trujillo, Development Officer of non-profit Kitchen Angels, will join Rey for a discussion of the mission of this well-regarded organization. Founded in 1992, the mission of Kitchen Angels is to provide free, nutritious meals to homebound individuals facing life-challenging conditions. In addition, the organization serves the residents of Santa Fe—and other Northern New Mexico communities—who are also in a health crisis, lack the resources for regular meals, and are not eligible for other local meal services. Besides offering information on the organization’s day-to-day operation, Linda and Dwayne will also discuss their “Angels Dine Out” event on April 23; the organization’s “Feasting With Friends” event staged in the fall of 2020; as well as “Kitchenality,” the organization’s on-site resale, retail store.
