All Things Real Estate: Second Hour - October 20, 2019All Things Real Estate
In June, All Things Real Estate (ATRE) celebrated 10 years of airing to home owners, buyers, sellers, and renters located in communities across the nation. Marking this occasion, new elements have been added to the program throughout 2019. This Sunday’s show offers one of the new program additions—the next edition of the “This Is Taos” show series. Each month, the series offers interviews with business, tourism, government, cultural, and real estate leaders who bring useful and informative commentary about why the historic Town of Taos is a popular destination for visitors from around the world, as well as why people select the community as the place to call home. The monthly show is presented by the Taos Ski Valley and fully supported by the Town of Taos government, and a number of businesses and organizations in Taos.
In both hours of this Sunday’s show, join Rey and his guests for a special remote broadcast from the Taos Tap Room.
Overview Thoughts: Rey will offer his observations on some of the unique relationships that Santa Fe real estate professionals have with Taos home buyers and sellers.
Taos Tap Room Is Show Venue: Jayson Wylie, President/CEO & Co-Founder of Taos Mesa Brewing, has graciously offered the use of the company’s Taos Tap Room—located at 201 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur in downtown Taos—as the site for the airing of Sunday’s ATRE program. Jayson, and one of his company colleagues, will serve as Rey’s commentators at the start of each hour of the broadcast, offering their own perspectives on what makes Taos a special place to live and work.
Taos Behavioral Health Report to the Community: Simon Torrez, the Chief Executive Officer of Taos Behavioral Health (TBH), will join the show in the second of a two-part interview, designed to speak to the nonprofit’s mission of providing comprehensive behavioral health services to individuals, families, and groups, to support them in developing positive behaviors and making life-affirming choices. With the largest licensed and credentialed behavioral staff in Northern New Mexico, TBH is well respected and known for its dedication to helping Taos become a better, safer, and less violent community by serving at-risk youth and adults in need of guidance and counseling. Rey and Simon will discuss the good works of TBH, including the case management focus of the nonprofit’s Comprehensive Community Support Services, lending support to clinicians, as they do very focused work with their clients. Simon will also review the work of TBH in its efforts to serve veterans. Simon joined Taos Behavioral Health as the business manager, and he took over the CEO role in September 2013.
Taos Town Manager Review: Joining Rey as a special guest for the show, is Taos Town Manager Rick Bellis, who plays a major role in the management of matters impacting the residents of the community. Besides offering commentary on a variety of topical issues, Rick will also offer his observations on what makes Taos such a desirable destination for those who wish to visit Northern New Mexico, and those who select the town as the place they wish to call home. Rick has served as the Taos Town Manager for five years, bringing more than 40 years of government service to his role, with a background in community and economic development, specializing in the revitalization of historic downtowns.
Taos Ski Valley Marketing Report: Dash Hegeman, Director of Marketing at the Taos Ski Valley (TSV), will offer an update on what the mountain resort is doing to prepare for the winter ski season, including a review of TSV’s special season pass program which is available to consumers. Dash will also offer his thoughts on what makes TSV a desirable destination—year-round—and also offer information on his role at the mountain resort and what brought him to work in Taos. For information on TSV’s range of services, including the resort’s famous hotel, The Blake, please go to https://www.skitaos.com/. In addition, TSV offers a highly-regarded Speaker Series program, with the aim of deepening and enhancing their guests' understanding of Taos Ski Valley and the larger community. This program has invited over 40 organizations and individuals who make Taos "Taos." From astronauts, to quartets, and anglers, each week the program is designed to teach a little more about what makes Taos unique, and how to keep it that way.
Taos Ski Valley Real Estate Report: Leslie Campbell, Director of Sales/Real Estate at TSV, will offer information on the Blake Residences, 24 extraordinary and fully appointed slopeside residences that are a major part of the revitalization of the mountain resort. Leslie will also reflect on the highly successful fall season enjoyed by the mountain resort, and will also extend an invitation to people to take advantage of what is offered at TSV during the winter ski season. TSV is the first major ski resort to become a certified B Corp. This certification helps ensure that TSV meets the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, sustainability, public transparency and legal accountability. Becoming a B Corp also means that the long-held values of inclusion, sustainability, and respect for all are validated. TSV recognizes that Taos is a special place and, in the spirit of this sentiment, will continue on their path to get better, not bigger—with an invitation to all to join them on the incredible journey they are pursuing.
Rey’s “Real Estate Recommendation”: Rey’s weekly real estate recommendation will offer some suggestions on how to make the home buying and selling process a bit easier, more efficient and enjoyable for consumers. Corresponding to the theme of the special relationship that Santa Fe has with Taos and other Northern New Mexico communities, Rey is offering a 10-acre parcel of land, just nine miles east of Abiquiu, and situated above the Rio Chama, with 360-degree vistas (see the "Unique Destinations" section on ATREradio.com).
Open House of the Week: Rey will review the attributes of 434 W. Pueblos Street with his Sotheby’s International Realty broker colleague David Cordova. This very nice, traditional-style Northern New Mexico, three-bedroom home, is sited on a large lot, and located in the town of Espanola, in the center of the Espanola Valley. The home offers large windows, and wood and tile floors throughout; a custom stone fireplace with insert for maximum heat efficiency; a large kitchen that features granite countertops and pine cabinets; and a large completely fenced back area sufficient for RV parking. David will also reflect on his own experiences working with home buyer and seller clients in Taos. David is a native New Mexican born and raised in the small village of Chimayo, understanding that the dream of home ownership in New Mexico is not just buying a home, but being a part of the rich cultural environment only Northern New Mexico has to offer.
