Derek Trucks Interview

- July 22, 2014

The Mighty D gets the esteemed Derek Trucks on the phone from the road for a little chat about what the Tedeschi Trucks Band have been up to lately...

Tedeschi Trucks Band are live this Saturday (7/26) for the 4th annual New Day benefit, with Eric McFadden and the Noms.  The Kiva Auditorium is in the Albuquerque Convention Center.  Click here for ticket information.

Playing the White House:
“We were there with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Booker T., Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger… When you see that invite and you see that list of guests, they’re not telling you you have to do it but you’re gonna figure out how to make it happen…It’s a pretty surreal experience to be hanging out in the actual White House with BB King and Buddy Guy.”

If he had a time machine:
“I’d like to be able to sit in front of Howlin’ Wolf and his band…mid 50s, late 50s, early 60s, that version of the Howlin’ Wolf band [and if Susan had a time machine] I would guess Mahalia Jackson or Magic Sam, one of those two.”

On the future of the Allman Brothers Band:
“It’s not fully clear at this point.  I think in a perfect world it should probably wrap up but you never know. Those guys have gone through so many changes over the years I would never count them out.”
