The Board of Directors of Southwest Care Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, announced that Michael Adams, MBA, CMPE has been named Chief Executive Officer of the organization effective January 18, 2021. Mr. Adams holds a Bachelor ofScience in Business and Leadership and a Master of Business Administration from Marylhurst University, Oregon, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership with a Business concentration from the University of the Cumberlands. Mr. Adams is a Certified Medical Practice Executive via the Medical Group Management Association and holds certificates in Green Belt Lean Six Sigma from Washington State University and Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Marylhurst University. Mr. Adams comes to Southwest Care Center with more than eighteen years of progressively responsible executive and operations leadership in Federally Qualified Health Centers and national healthcare systems.

Most recently, Mr. Adams served as the Chief Executive Officer of Adams Management and Consulting, LLC, which focused on providing operations and grant assistance to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). Additionally, he served as System Director Ambulatory Services for South Texas Health System and was Chief Executive Officer at Tyler Family Circle of Care, an FQHC in Texas. Mr. Adams has also served on the Texas Health and Human Services State Medicaid Managed Care Advisory Committee since 2016.

In accepting this position, Mr. Adams stated to the board of directors, “I am excited to join Southwest Care Center. I look forward to working closely with the board of directors and the entire Southwest Care Center team to ensure we continue to provide timely access to the highest quality, most affordable care to the communities we serve.”

Mr. Adams is devoted to Southwest Care Center and believes that Culture, Service, and Operational Excellence are vital to providing high-quality care to the underserved, underinsured, and uninsured and places significant emphasis on serving the team members who provide that care. He is committed to improving the total health and wellness of the communities served by Southwest Care Center. Furthermore, Mr. Adams said his role as the new CEO is to support each team member so they may live out Southwest Care Center’s Mission of improving the health of ALL communities of New Mexico, including the underserved, through safe, affirming, culturally respectful, and judgment-free, regardless of ability to pay.
