If you’ve attended the Burning of Zozobra and have an interesting story about it, fun photos, or even a video clip, share it! Hutton Broadcasting is working with the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe to produce a documentary for the 100th Burning of Zozobra. It’s easy to share — just click here!

About Zozobra and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe Zozobra with fireworks can be seen with Zozobra 2023 tickets.

Created by Will Shuster, a member of an artists group known as Los Cinco Pintores who came to New Mexico in the 1920s, Zozobra first appeared in 1924 as a six-foot puppet, and over the years has grown to a towering 50-foot high marionette made of wood, wire, and cotton cloth and stuffed with hundreds of bags of shredded paper and “glooms,” the anxieties, worries, and woes of the past year written on paper and destined to burn with Zozobra.

For the last 100 years, the people of New Mexico, families, and friends new and old have annually made their way to Fort Marcy Park to view this one-of-a-kind pageant.
Since 1964, the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe has held the exclusive copyright and trademarks to the tradition, which is the club’s major fundraiser held as a community service event to benefit children via grants made from the event’s net proceeds.

Made up of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, the Museum of international Folk Art, the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, and the Wheelwright … Read More

Cooking Classes with Johnny Vee at Las Cosas Kitchen Shoppe
Dessert with chocolate sauce

One of my “must-visits” in Santa Fe is Las Cosas Kitchen Shoppe and Cooking School in the DeVargas Center on Paseo de Peralta. The store is a cook’s dream! They have specialty gadgets and every type of pot, pan, griddle, coffee maker, china, glassware, and knife. There is always a “gadget of the month” and usually a sale on one of the top brands they carry. In addition to the exceptional assortment of cookware, Las Cosas offers a monthly schedule … Read More
